TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS
At Durham Christian Academy we are very proud of our teaching staff. It is the teachers who bring the curriculum to life. The teachers at DCA are carefully chosen based on their qualifications to teach, their extra-curricular gifts, their personality and most importantly their Christian character. The teachers are the models that the students see each and every day and we are fortunate to have such a highly qualified and committed staff. |

OUR HISTORY
After many months of meetings and prayers by several families desiring a Christian school in Durham region, Durham Christian Academy opened its doors in September 1982. Forty-two students from JK through grade 6, four staff members and countless volunteers were welcomed to a new journey in their lives. Grades 7 and 8 were added the following consecutive years.
Trinity Pentecostal Church on King Street in Oshawa was the first home to Durham Christian Academy for seventeen years. The school then moved to 615 Ridgeway Avenue in Oshawa for the following five years leasing space from the French School Board. Then in September 2005 Durham Christian Academy began its first school year in our own building after purchasing the land and former "Maple Grove Public School" on Nash Road in between Courtice and Bowmanville. Shortly after a new double gymnasium was added on to the facility.
Over the years, Durham Christian Academy has been a spiritual and educational facility for hundreds of children representing over twenty-five various churches in the area. With our outstanding academic, music, french, speech arts and physical education programs, Durham Christian Academy is always striving towards excellence and pleasing the LORD. |

| STATEMENT OF FAITH |
 |
| a |
We believe in one Eternal God, Who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. |
 |
| b |
We believe that the Bible is the Holy Scriptures as originally given by God; divinely inspired, infallible and entirely trustworthy; they are the only supreme authority in matters of faith and conduct. |
 |
| c |
We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh and believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His divine miracles, His substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection and His personal return in power and glory. |
 |
| d |
We believe in the Deity and the personality of the Holy Spirit who convinces of sin, righteousness and judgement; who regenerates, sanctifies, empowers unto service and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ. |
 |
| e |
We believe that man's salvation has been purchased through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and is personally received by grace through faith; and that those who believe are regenerated and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. |
 |
| f |
We believe in the reality of Heaven and Hell. |
 |
| g |
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. |
 |
| h |
We believe that the purpose of education is to ensure that the student's spiritual, mental, emotional, social and physical potential is fully developed in preparation for Christian service and service. |

FACILITIES
After sharing space since DCA opened in 1982, in September 2005 Durham Christian Academy began its first school year in our own building after purchasing the land and former "Maple Grove Public School" on Nash Road in between Courtice and Bowmanville. Shortly after a new double gymnasium was added on to the facility. The main building houses 4 large classrooms, offices, staff room, kitchen and gym. In addition we own 4 portables for more class space and our library and computer labs. DCA is set on 4 acres of land surrounded by nature. Our staff and students enjoy lots of fresh air and peaceful surroundings. |
